Java Systems Analyst

PCR is currently seeking candidates for a contract to hire role with one of our clients in the Charlotte, NC Metro area.

Position Summary:

The Java Systems Analyst will be engaged in systems analysis and design activities throughout the IT project life cycle including requirements definition, systems design, testing and support.

Core Responsibilities:

• Work with Business Analysts/Management to understand project scope, project goals, product functionality, and desired features and define new functionality for the software applications
• Communicate software solution needs to software developers through appropriate design deliverables
• Design software solutions that are easy to use, extend and maintain using software design patterns
• Evaluate customer issues and determine appropriate solutions
• Create and maintain user guides
• Provide ad-hoc reporting, data gathering and feasibility studies to backup and support project business justification as required for management review

Other Responsibilities:

• Follow standard software development best practices relative to design, documentation and implementation
• Resolve issues quickly and effectively throughout the software development process
• May perform other duties as required

Technical Background and Skill requirements:

• Strong knowledge of Java, UML, Oracle, SQL Server, TOAD
• Excellent knowledge of Software Design Patterns, and various web technologies and protocols including HTTP, SOAP, XML, Web Services
• Conceptual knowledge of Datamodelling and database design
• Ability to write functional requirements, use cases, and other various design artifacts effectively
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to pay close attention to details
• Working knowledge PC operating systems and hardware

Minimum General Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, preferred
• 3-5 years of experience as a Systems Analyst/Systems Designer
• Experience with user interface and experience design
• Telecommunications experience preferred
