A very successful Internet company is looking for a Sr.Linux System Administrator. The company has 1500 employees nationally and hasbeen in business for 40+ yrs, and has successfully transitioned their businessmodel to the Internet over the last 10 yrs.

Sr. Linux System Administrator will be part of a team of Linux System Administrators in the redesign, build out and implementation of the company high volume Internet based Linux platform infrastructure based on cutting edge technologies.

The company is in the process of redesigning and buildingout a new infrastructure for increased performance, reliability and scalabilitybased on increased traffic and release of new products and applications. TheSr. Linux System Administrators are supporting Linux Servers in a High Availability, HighInternet Volume 24x7x365 environment.

The candidate will need to demonstrate and prove (via resumeand then interview) their expertise, practices, strategies and experience oflarge, Internet, Unix System infrastructures.

The Linux System Administrator will have to work closely collaboration with teams performing those tasks. The Linux Systems team supports all Production, Development and QA Servers for global operations. The Sr. Linux System Administrators have direct responsibility for all hardware specification for capacity, scalability, and growth to include existing and new product/systems deployments, System installation and configuration, inpreparation for system launch

More specifically the Linux Sys Admin team will monitor system activity and tune system parameters and configurations to optimize performance; monitor disk space and control usage and implement migration path to upgrade software and servers, create and manage user accounts and file directories, support rapid development and deployment projects, build and deploy automated tools and systems, use methodical troubleshooting skills toresolve complex issues, create from scratch new scripts to automate variousprocesses and have full responsibility for web systems monitoring andtuning/configuring for high availability and performance.

This position requires a Linux SA background but the client is looking for someone whom has taken on a role architecting high volume Linux environmentsf or performance.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have multiple years of recent Linux system administration experience(preferably in a high volume, high availability, mission-critical 24x7x365,3-tier web serving Linux environment) To be considered: this experience needs to be detailed per project/employer on your resume.
Experience in larger ISP, ASP or large scale Internet environments preferred.
Shell Scripting experience. Must have solid experience with Apache web servers
Experience building, configuring, deploying, troubleshooting and tuning web server farms with Linux Excellent methodology to troubleshoot various kinds of problems (network, hardware and operating system related problems)
